Ume Olive Nursery (Sapling Nursery)

The owner of the land our nursery sits on is called “Umeko”, so we named our nursery after her. We raise olive trees from seeds here, and until they are ready to be planted in the groves, we keep them here at the seedling nursery.
We also sell seedlings here.

Minna no Tanbo Rice Field

Every summer, people from all over Japan, as well as Italy, Hong Kong, etc. have come to help with planting, weeding, harvesting, and sorting olives. Takao Farm’s owner thought it would be nice to try growing the rice that we eat right here on the farm. In the spring of 2014, his wish came true when 4 rice paddies were rented, about 1200 square meters.

Cultivars Hinohikari, Hakuto Mochi

Barley Fields

Weeding the olive farm in summer is a battle with the heat. Another thing we go through a lot on the farm is that Japanese summer staple, barley tea. Wouldn’t it be lovely to grow our own barley as well? In December 2014, we received some barley seeds and planted them. They grew beautifully, and now everyone can enjoy the cool comfort of barley tea during breaks on the farm.
